Waystar AltitudeAI Advances Agentic AI Across the Revenue Cycle

Agentic AI

Waystar has introduced new Waystar AltitudeAI capabilities that bring agentic AI into critical revenue cycle workflows. The latest innovations allow healthcare organizations to automate actions across several operational areas. The company announced the new capabilities on Aug. 26, 2026. Waystar made the announcement from Lehi, Utah, and Louisville, Kentucky.

Waystar provides healthcare payment software and continues to expand its autonomous revenue cycle strategy. The company built these new capabilities on its end-to-end platform and payer connectivity. Its proprietary data also supports the latest developments. The data covers more than 7.5 billion transactions across the healthcare payment ecosystem. It also represents approximately 60% of U.S. patients. As a result, Waystar can connect artificial intelligence with extensive healthcare payment data. The company aims to move AI beyond analysis and toward direct execution.

“Agentic intelligence is a critical layer for the autonomous revenue cycle,” said Matt Hawkins, Chief Executive Officer of Waystar. “By combining AI with the breadth of our data, payer intelligence, and connected workflows, Waystar increasingly identifies what needs attention and deploys specialized agents to pursue resolution. As the system of action for healthcare revenue cycle, we are helping providers reduce administrative work, accelerate financial outcomes, and fundamentally change how they operate.”

Waystar Expands Autonomous Claim Resolution

Waystar AltitudeAI is able to now automatically resubmit eligible denied and rejected claims. Denied claims continue to be a major pain point for healthcare organizations. Payers pay about 70% of denied claims anyway. But providers usually need more resources before getting those payments. The new capability solves this challenge by taking away the manual work of resubmitting a claim. Waystar agents interpret payer responses and leverage payer-specific intelligence.

The agents then figure out what’s the next step for each eligible claim. They can also re-submit qualifying claims automatically with minimal or no human intervention. This allows providers to shorten the time between payer response and claims resubmission. The approach may also enable organizations to accelerate reimbursement and improve accounts receivable performance.

Conversational AI Supports Revenue Cycle Decisions

Every day, healthcare organizations handle huge amounts of operational and financial data. Still, performance problems can take quite a bit of manual analysis to discover. Waystar is solving this challenge with conversational AI in its next-gen analytics capabilities. Users can ask questions in natural language, rather than having to manually navigate complex datasets.

This technology can help users recognize patterns and potentially identify root causes. It can also illustrate the financial impact of doing things wrong. Early users have seen data analysis times cut by as much as 75%. This allows revenue cycle teams to move faster from ideas to practical action. This capability can assist organizations in directing resources to areas with a greater financial impact. It also helps drive the industry-wide move toward AI-enabled revenue cycle management.

Agentic AI Expands Into Clinical Documentation

Waystar is also extending AltitudeAI into clinical documentation workflows. The company previously introduced agentic clinical capabilities earlier this year. Now, Waystar agents can analyze approximately 30,000 data points within a medical record. They can complete this analysis within seconds. The agents synthesize relevant clinical information and provide high-confidence recommendations. They also organize supporting evidence for specialist review.

Waystar expects this capability to reduce review time by approximately 25%. Therefore, clinical documentation teams can manage workflows more efficiently. The technology can also support accuracy and appropriate reimbursement. This development further expands the role of agentic AI across healthcare revenue cycle operations.

Personalized Patient Financial Engagement

Waystar is further developing an agentic concierge for patient financial engagement. The capability uses AltitudeAI to provide more proactive financial guidance. Patients now account for more than $556 billion in annual out-of-pocket healthcare spending. Therefore, healthcare organizations face growing pressure to improve financial communication. The agentic concierge uses information from the patient’s financial journey. It can then deliver more relevant and personalized interactions.

Patients can receive clearer guidance about their financial responsibilities. They can also better understand what they owe and why they owe it. Additionally, the system can help patients resolve outstanding balances. At the same time, it can reduce routine administrative work for healthcare organizations. Waystar plans to showcase these innovations during its Fall Innovation Showcase. The event will take place at 11:30 a.m. ET on Aug. 26. The showcase forms part of Waystar True North™, the company’s annual client conference. More than 600 healthcare experts are attending the conference. Participants will explore developments shaping the next generation of healthcare revenue cycle innovation. They will also examine the industry’s continued movement toward an autonomous future.

Waystar will livestream the Innovation Showcase for the public to view. The event is a chance to check out the company’s latest agentic AI advancements. In all, Waystar AltitudeAI further enhances the company’s autonomous revenue cycle management commitment. Its newest features connect intelligence to action across key healthcare workflows. The developments also indicate rising demand for AI-powered healthcare automation. Therefore, providers can more frequently turn to specialized agents to solve operational and financial problems.
