EnableComp announced its acquisition of Cincinnati-based revenue recovery firm Helix Advisory. Helix was introduced into the company’s flagship Revenue Recovery Platform to improve the firm’s Zero Balance Review process.
In many cases, healthcare institutions overlook underpaid revenue due to their stringent audit processes, which are rule-based. Therefore, this acquisition allows the company to assist hospitals in recovering lost revenue through complicated billing.
Additionally, the improved Revenue Recovery Platform introduces three very important technological advancements. Firstly, the platform identifies underpayments that are not detected by the existing rules-based audit processes. Secondly, clinical signal detection pinpoints any disparities in the coding and reimbursement process. Thirdly, root cause analysis detects any original error made to prevent future revenue loss.
In fact, American hospitals lose substantial capital annually to systemic underpayments. Recent American Hospital Association data reveals Medicare and Medicaid underpay hospitals by over $130 billion each year. In addition, commercial insurance underpayments add tens of billions more to those figures. Traditional audit tools rely on strict claim size thresholds. As a result, hospitals write off billions in valid reimbursement dollars.
By embedding Helix technology directly into its Revenue Recovery Platform, EnableComp removes the need for third-party audit vendors. Hospital teams can now process complex claims, denial management, and zero balance reviews in one place.
“Most recovery programs are built to find what they’re told to look for. Helix’s technology finds what nobody told it to look for that’s the difference between a rules engine and real intelligence,” said Frank Forte, CEO of EnableComp. “Bringing that into EnableComp’s platform means our clients stop leaving money on the table simply because a claim was too small or too complex for a standard audit to flag it. The work of unifying these capabilities into a single, more powerful platform is already underway and what we are building is something the market has not seen before.”
“The technology we built at Helix was purpose-built to find revenue that traditional recovery programs leave on the table,” said Zack Higbie, founder of Helix Advisory, who joins EnableComp as vice president of Revenue Recovery Products. “Joining EnableComp means we can bring that capability and the clinical expertise behind it to a much larger base of hospitals. Our early clients, large and small, are already seeing greater than 2% net revenue improvements on revenue that was previously unrecognized or written off.”
Expanding Operational Scale and Industry Recognition
Currently, EnableComp supports over 1,000 hospital clients across the United States. The company’s enhanced Revenue Recovery Platform recovers nearly $3 billion annually across complex claim categories.
Therefore, hospitals secure immediate financial uplift without expanding internal administrative overhead. Moreover, Black Book named EnableComp the top Specialty Revenue Cycle Management firm for three consecutive years. The Revenue Recovery Platform also maintains strict SOC 2 Type II and HITRUST e1 cybersecurity certifications. Ultimately, this acquisition sets a new benchmark for automated complex revenue recovery across healthcare networks.
