Digimarc Corporation announced a key executive leadership appointment today. The digital verification pioneer named Ron Thomas as Chief Revenue Officer, effective August 3, 2026. Thomas reports directly to President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Carreiro. In this role, Thomas directs Digimarc’s global commercial operations. Furthermore, he oversees sales, customer success, revenue operations, solution advisory, and partnerships. He brings extensive enterprise software experience to accelerate global revenue growth.
Specifically, Thomas drives the broader go-to-market strategy across key global markets. He excels at scaling high-performing enterprise software commercial teams worldwide. Additionally, Thomas translates complex technology into clear business value for enterprise clients. Before joining Digimarc, he served as Chief Revenue Officer at Smartcat. Smartcat operates as an AI-native enterprise software provider. Consequently, his background aligns directly with Digimarc’s long-term commercial goals.
Strategic Leadership and Commercial Execution Focus
Executive leadership emphasized the critical necessity of commercial execution alongside technology innovation.
“Digimarc has reached a point where commercial execution is every bit as important as innovation. We’ve built differentiated technology and established strong customer relationships and validated the value of our solutions in the market. Ron’s mandate is to scale our world-class commercial organization which translates those advantages into predictable, scalable growth. His experience building disciplined revenue teams makes him the right leader for this next chapter,” said Paul Carreiro, President and Chief Executive Officer of Digimarc.
As Chief Revenue Officer, Thomas will refine Digimarc’s commercial operating model. Therefore, he will sharpen customer prioritization and integrate go-to-market functions tightly. He also plans to expand strategic partnerships across the modern enterprise software ecosystem. Furthermore, Thomas will build a unified commercial engine to improve long-term client retention.
The company builds the digital trust layer for the modern world. Digimarc delivers digital authentication and identification solutions across global supply chains. Thus, stronger commercial execution will help Digimarc capture expanding market opportunities rapidly.
Proven Revenue Scaling Track Record
The incoming revenue leader outlined his strategic priorities for accelerating global commercial growth.
“Digimarc has all the ingredients to become a market leader a world class technology platform, outstanding customers, and a significant market opportunity,” said Thomas. “I’m excited to join Paul and the leadership team and be part of this journey. My priority is to listen to our customers, partners and employees, sharpen our commercial focus, and build a disciplined, customer-centric revenue organization that delivers predictable growth and long-term value.”
Before Smartcat, Thomas led major revenue initiatives across several industry-leading technology organizations. Most notably, he served as Chief Revenue Officer at data.ai. There, he grew annual recurring revenue from roughly $100 million to over $150 million. Furthermore, he helped transform data.ai into a Rule of 40 business. That effort culminated in a successful private equity exit. Earlier in his career, he held senior revenue and operating leadership roles at Eloqua, Oracle, and Ariba. At Eloqua, he helped guide growth from pre-IPO through an $800 million acquisition by Oracle. Likewise, he launched his career at Ariba before SAP acquired the firm. Throughout his career, Thomas has specialized in scaling enterprise software sales operations.
Thomas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, specifically a BSc in Economics from Rutgers University. This move comes on the heels of Carreiro’s appointment as the CEO in July 2026, as it helps reinforce the executive team at Digimarc. Both of them will help increase the reach of Digimarc in the enterprise software space globally. In addition, Digimarc is still developing trust-based infrastructure for digital processes. Therefore, this helps in improving the ability of the company to conduct business sustainably.
