John Capaldi Joins Tennr as Chief Revenue Officer to Support Growing Demand for Its Patient Orchestration Platform

Tennr

Tennr has appointed John Capaldi as Chief Revenue Officer as demand grows for its Patient Orchestration Platform. The company also expanded its sales leadership team with two senior appointments. Tennr helps healthcare providers manage payer requirements across the US. The company also helps providers remove operational bottlenecks. In addition, Tennr gives stakeholders visibility across the patient journey.

The company announced three additions to its sales leadership team. John Capaldi will serve as Chief Revenue Officer. Dean Sutherland will become VP of Sales Transformation. Matt Stephens will serve as SVP of Customer Experience and Value Engineering. Together, the executives bring more than seven decades of enterprise technology go-to-market experience. Their combined experience will support Tennr as healthcare demand continues to accelerate.

The leadership expansion follows a period of strong growth for Tennr. The company has raised $162 million from leading investors. These investors include IVP, Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed, GV, and ICONIQ.

Earlier this year, Tennr also appointed Dr. William H. Morris as Chief Medical Officer. Morris previously worked at Cleveland Clinic and Google.

“We couldn’t be more excited about bringing these leaders onboard and pointing their talents towards solving the very hairy, no-good black-hole problem facing the US healthcare system,” said Tennr CEO Trey Holterman. “I ask every person I interview one question which is: ‘what’s the best team you’ve ever been on’. And after hearing enough former teammates of his and folks in my network talk about the time they spent in the ‘Capaldi Army’ I knew we had to bring him onboard. Much cajoling later and we’re very excited to officially announce his role as CRO of Tennr. It’s a further testament to his leadership that we’ve been able to quickly get the gang back together with Matt Stephens and Dean Sutherland. A gang that together has built incredible teams and high-velocity organizations through the last two decades building companies.”

John Capaldi Takes Revenue Leadership Role

Capaldi joins Tennr with more than 25 years of enterprise technology experience. He has held leadership positions across public and private hyper-growth companies. Most recently, Capaldi served as Chief Revenue Officer at Altana. There, he led the company’s global go-to-market sales strategy. Before Altana, Capaldi served as CRO at Zip. He previously led the company’s go-to-market function.

His experience will support Tennr’s growing Patient Orchestration Platform business. He will focus on building a revenue engine that supports the company’s expansion.

“Tennr sits at the center of a problem every health system and specialty practice knows painfully well: patients getting lost between referral and care or first appointment and follow-up. Customers see the value in the product, and the market is enormous. My job is to build the revenue engine that matches the ambition of this team,” said Capaldi.

The appointment comes as healthcare organizations seek better operational efficiency. It also reflects growing demand for healthcare technology that supports patient movement.

Dean Sutherland to Strengthen Sales Transformation

Sutherland joins Tennr with more than 25 years of enterprise software experience. His background covers sales, sales leadership, and enablement. Most recently, he led Sales Transformation and Enablement at Redwood Software. At Tennr, Sutherland will develop a scalable sales organization.

His responsibilities will include strengthening the sales process. He will also focus on developing sellers and sales leaders. Additionally, Sutherland will establish greater consistency across the sales organization. These efforts will support Tennr’s next stage of growth.

“A major reason I joined Tennr was the opportunity to work with John Capaldi again. I’ve worked with John at different points over the past 20 years, and I believe he is a truly transformational sales leader. I was equally energized by Trey and his vision for Tennr. He’s determined to solve one of healthcare’s most persistent problems, has conviction in what Tennr can become, and possesses the urgency to get it there. The combination of John’s leadership, Trey’s vision, and Tennr’s ability to improve how patients move through the referral-to-care process made this an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” said Sutherland.

Matt Stephens Expands Customer Value Focus

Stephens joins Tennr from Celonis. He served as SVP of Value Engineering CoE and Customer Programs. At Celonis, Stephens led a global value engineering organization. Before Celonis, he spent more than a decade at Qlik. At Qlik, Stephens served as Director of Healthcare Solution Architects. He later led alliances, partner enablement, and OEM operations. Stephens started his career on the technical side of enterprise data and analytics. His experience spans several areas of enterprise technology.

These areas include solution and value engineering, direct sales, and customer programs. His background also includes ecosystem teams at hyper-growth technology companies. At Tennr, Stephens will connect go-to-market activities across the customer journey. He will focus on customer value from the initial demonstration through deployment and adoption.

“I’m most excited to connect go-to-market across the customer journey, from the first demo through deployment and adoption, with a singular focus: driving more value for our customers and better outcomes for their patients. I’m thrilled to be back in healthcare, working on a product that solves real problems for the people delivering care and the patients they serve,” said Stephens.

The appointments strengthen Tennr’s leadership across revenue and customer operations. They also support the company’s continued focus on healthcare automation. Furthermore, the expanded team will help Tennr address challenges across the referral-to-care process. The company’s Patient Orchestration Platform remains central to that effort. Tennr is now combining revenue leadership, sales transformation, and customer value expertise. The company expects these capabilities to support its continued expansion across the healthcare industry.
